The Lamb of God
Description
The Lamb of God, also known as Agnus Dei, is the name given to Jesus Christ by John the Baptist. It signifies his sacrifice on the cross for the redemption of mankind. It refers to the Passover lambs of the Old Testament, whose blood provided protection for the Israelites. It symbolizes Christ as the spotless, silent servant who offers up the sins of the world.
